Student Visa – Enrolment (Required Documents)
1. National Visa Application Form (Type D)
Completed National Visa (Type D) application form.
2. Photograph
One recent passport-size photograph in ICAO format.
3. Proof of Residence
- Residence certificate.
- For Pakistani citizens: Copy of the CNIC (National Identity Card).
- For foreign citizens residing in Pakistan: Proof of legal residence (e.g., long-term visa, residence permit, or work permit).
4. Passport
- Original valid passport and one photocopy.
- The passport must be valid for at least three months beyond the expiry date of the requested visa.
Note: Copies of previous visas and passport pages containing entry and exit stamps must also be provided.
5. Travel Documents
Flight reservation or airline ticket.
Note: If the trip includes multiple destinations within the Schengen Area, reservations for intra-Schengen transportation (train, flight, or car rental) must also be submitted.
6. Health Insurance
Travel medical insurance valid throughout the Schengen Area with a minimum coverage of €30,000 for emergency hospital treatment and repatriation expenses.
7. Proof of Accommodation
Provide one of the following:
- Hotel, residence, or holiday accommodation booking.
- If staying with family members, friends, or a sponsor: a declaration of guarantee and/or accommodation (using the official form).
- A declaration from the university confirming that accommodation expenses will be covered.
8. Universitaly Pre-enrolment Application
A copy of the Universitaly pre-enrolment application, validated by the university and signed by the applicant.
Note: Only applicants with validated (without reservation) pre-enrolment applications are eligible to apply for a visa.
9. Motivation Letter
A motivation letter addressed to the Visa Officer of the Italian Consulate explaining the purpose of studying in Italy.
10. University Admission Letter
Official admission letter issued by the Italian university.
11. Qualification Recognition
Either:
- A CIMEA (ENIC-NARIC) Comparability Certificate with a Statement of Authenticity, or
- A Declaration of Value (Dichiarazione di Valore).
12. Educational Documents
Original educational certificates and transcripts, together with one photocopy.
All documents must be:
- Apostilled.
- Officially translated into Italian.
13. Language Proficiency Certificate
For courses taught in Italian
A minimum B2 level Italian language certificate issued by one of the following recognized institutions:
- University for Foreigners of Siena
- University for Foreigners of Perugia
- Roma Tre University
- Dante Alighieri University for Foreigners of Reggio Calabria
- Società Dante Alighieri (including examination centers affiliated with Italian Cultural Institutes or other authorized institutions)
For courses taught in languages other than Italian
A valid language certificate demonstrating at least B2 level, issued by internationally recognized institutions (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL), or an equivalent certificate issued by the Italian university confirming B2 proficiency in all four language skills:
- Listening
- Reading
- Speaking
- Writing
14. Proof of Financial Resources
Applicants must demonstrate that they and/or their parents (or relatives up to the fourth degree) have sufficient financial resources to support their stay in Italy.
Minimum Financial Requirement
The student must have at least €10,179.85 per year available in a bank account in their own name (as established by the Italian Ministry of the Interior Directive of 1 March 2000).
Important Notes
- Cash is not accepted as proof of financial resources.
- Financial guarantees provided by persons outside the immediate family are not accepted.
- Bank guarantees or surety bonds are not accepted.
- The Embassy evaluates the applicant’s overall socio-economic situation rather than simply the bank balance or one-time deposits. It must be clear that sufficient monthly financial support is available throughout the study period.
Scholarships
Scholarships awarded by:
- Italian universities,
- Italian public institutions (including local governments),
- Foreign institutions recognized by the Italian Embassy in Islamabad,
may also be accepted as proof of financial resources.
Sponsor (Guarantor)
If a sponsor provides financial support, the following must be submitted:
- A written affidavit specifying:
- the financial resources available to the student,
- the source of those funds,
- the duration of support,
- the amount provided.
- The affidavit must be apostilled and officially translated into Italian.
- If the sponsor permanently resides outside Pakistan, the documentation must be legalized by the competent Italian diplomatic or consular mission.
A. If the Applicant (or Sponsor) is a Salaried Employee
Submit:
- Income tax returns for the last three years.
- Salary slips for the last six months.
- Bank statements showing transactions for the last six months, signed and stamped by the bank.
- Copy of the employment contract.
- Employer’s letter stating:
- approved leave,
- leave dates,
- job title,
- salary,
- duration of employment,
- purpose of leave,
- employer’s contact details.
Note: The employer’s name, address, telephone number, and email address must be clearly indicated.
B. If the Applicant (or Sponsor) is a Business Owner or Self-Employed
Submit:
- Company registration certificate.
- Property deed or partnership deed (if owner or partner).
- Articles of incorporation (if applicable).
- Company registration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry or another relevant government authority.
C. If the Sponsor is a Pensioner
Submit:
- Pension slips for the last six months.
D. If the Applicant is a Minor
Submit:
- Written parental consent (or consent from one parent if legally applicable) through an affidavit detailing:
- travel plans,
- guardians or sponsors during travel.
- Copies of the CNIC and Pakistani passport of the parent(s) who are not travelling.
- Court decision establishing parental relationship or legal guardianship, where applicable.
15. Family Registration Certificate (FRC)
A Family Registration Certificate (FRC) issued in English by NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority of Pakistan).
The certificate must:
- be apostilled, and
- have been issued no more than six months before the visa application date.
Additional Information
The Embassy reserves the right to request any additional supporting documents whenever deemed necessary during the visa application process.
